“If MS Dhoni Was Captain”: Pakistan’s Greatest Cricketer Takes On Virat Kohli’s RCB

MS Dhoni has four IPL titles as captain, trailing only MI skipper Rohit Sharma’s five.
Despite competing in the Indian Premier League since its beginning in 2008, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the few teams to have never won the championship. Notably, RCB has lost all three IPL finals from 2009 (Deccan Chargers), 2011 (Chennai Super Kings), and 2016 (SunRisers Hyderabad). Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram believes that RCB would have won three IPL titles if MS Dhoni had been their captain.

“If MS Dhoni had been their captain, RCB would have won three IPL titles.” They have never won a trophy before. They have a lot of help. They also have Virat Kohli, the best player of the contemporary era, but they have yet to win the trophy. “If Dhoni was in RCB, he would have helped them win the title,” Dhoni claimed in an interview with Sportskeeda.

Akram went on to praise Dhoni’s leadership abilities, saying that the 41-year-old knows how to instill confidence in his colleagues.

“Dhoni is used to leading a team.” Even Virat would have gained this proclivity by now, but Dhoni had it from the start. He is not calm on the inside, but he projects it. Players gain confidence when they notice their commander is comfortable and keeps a hand on their shoulders. ‘Dhoni is a somebody who understands how to inspire trust in his players,’ he added.

Notably, Dhoni has four IPL titles as captain, trailing only MI skipper Rohit Sharma’s five. Kohli, on the other hand, has represented RCB since the league’s inception in 2008 and is still vying for the coveted crown for the first time in his career.

He is also the only Indian captain to have won three different ICC championships.

RCB are currently fifth in the IPL 2023 points table. On Saturday, they were trounced by the Delhi Capitals.
