Nepal has included uncapped spinner Mousom Dhakal to its 17-man Asia Cup squad. Nepal announced their first team following the retirement of previous captain Gyanendra Malla.
Rohit Paudel, 20, who has captained Nepal in 27 One-Day Internationals, will skipper the country again at the Asia Cup. In the ACC Premier Cup, which Nepal won to qualify for the tournament, he was the second-highest run-scorer.
Sundeep Jora rejoins the squad after being absent from the previous World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe. It has also been stated that Nepal will fly to Pakistan one week before the competition to train. They would also play matches against PCB-designated teams at the time.
For the competition, Nepal has been placed in a group with Pakistan and India. They will commence the competition against Pakistan on August 30 in Multan before going to Kandy to face India on September 4. Each group’s top two teams will proceed to the Super 4s.
