Virat Kohli’s 100th IPL catch is a “historic first” for RCB.

Only all-rounder Kieron Pollard (103 catches) and batter Suresh Raina (109 catches in 204 games) have more catches than Virat Kohli.

On Sunday, Rahul Dravid, a fielder for Star India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), became the first player from his team and the third player overall to make 100 catches as a fielder in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This goal was reached when his team played Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL 2023 at M Chinaswammy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Even though Virat was out for a golden duck in the game, his powerful play on the field made up for it. He had to make two catches to get rid of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal, two young batters at the top of the order who were threatening to stop RCB’s 190-run chase. These wickets were very important for his team to win.

Virat now has 101 catches in 228 games. Only all-rounder Kieron Pollard (103 catches) and batter Suresh Raina (109 catches in 204 games) have more.

Virat has also been in great shape with the bat in IPL 2023. In seven games, he has scored 279 runs, which is an average of 46.50. So far in the event, he has four scores of 50 or more, with the highest being an 82*. His hit rate is 141.62 percent.

After RR put RCB in to bat first, they got 189/9 in 20 overs. After losing stand-in captain Virat Kohli for a golden duck and falling to 12/2, Faf du Plessis (62 off 39 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes) and Glenn Maxwell (77 off 44 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes) put together a 127-run third-wicket stand.

This stop was very important to RCB getting a good score. Trent Boult (2/41) was chosen to bowl for RR. Sandeep Sharma also got 2/49 in his four overs. Both Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin got rid of a batsman.

In the chase for 190, RR lost their best batter, Jos Buttler, for a duck. But Yashasvi Jaiswal (47 off 37 balls with five fours and two sixes) and Devdutt Padikkal (52 off 34 balls with seven fours and a six) put RR back in the game with a 98-run stand at the second wicket.

Later, captain Sanju Samson scored 22 runs off 15 balls with two fours and a six, and Dhruv Jurel scored 34* runs off 16 balls with two fours and two sixes, but RCB’s great death bowling kept them from winning by seven runs.Virat Kohli’s 100th IPL catch is a “historic first” for RCB.
