When the BCCI launched the IPL in 2007, the Mumbai Indians were the most expensive franchise, having been sold for $111.9 million to India’s largest conglomerate, Reliance Industries, via its 100% subsidiary Indiawin Sports.

MI has won the IPL title five times in a row 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 making it the league’s most successful team. The franchise has included players such as Lasith Malinga, Rohit Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Jayasuriya, Surya Kumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Ishan Krisan, and others who have played an essential role in the team’s success throughout the years.

The Rohit Sharma-led club is poised to rebuild itself with a fresh attitude and strategy for IPL 2023, with master blaster Sachin Tendulkar as the franchise’s emblem. The franchise is confident with its players trained under former South Africa wicketkeeper-batter Mark Boucher as head coach under veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard for batting, former Auckland cricketer James Pamment for fielding, and Shane Bond for bowling.

Mumbai Indians will increase in the next seasons, with an operating income of $5.5 million and revenue of $33 million, creating a good investment opportunity for potential investors.

CSK became India’s first sports unicorn in February 2022, valued at $1.02 billion or INR 8377 crore, thanks to its consistent and enormous fan base.

CSK has won the championship four times, in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021, and has the most appearances in the playoffs (eleven) and the Final (nine), as well as the highest winning percentage of 58.98%. Several notable players have contributed to the franchise’s success, including Matthew Hayden, Muttiah Muralitharan, Brendon McCullum, Suresh Raina, Mike Hussey, Dwayne Bravo, Faf du Plessis, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Albie Morkel, Murali Vijay, and MS Dhoni.

MS Dhoni captains the franchise, which is led by former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming, former IPL Orange Cap winner Michael Hussey as batting coach, West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo as bowling coach, and Rajiv Kumar as fielding coach for IPL 2023. Kolkata Knight Riders at third place on the Forbes list. The two times won IPL champions in 2012 and 2014 have a valuation of $1 billion, with an operating income of $14.1 million and revenue of $41.2 million.

This franchise, which represents Kolkata, is owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment in collaboration with actress Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta for a fee of $75.09 million or INR 616 crores in 2007.

The franchise won the title twice, thanks to the excellent performances of famous players such as Shreyas Iyer, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Shakib Al Hasan. The team has been practicing for the 2023 IPL under head coach Chadrakant Pandit, bowling coach former Indian fast bowler Bharat Arun, and fielding coach former Netherlands all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate. Nitish Rana is the captain of the squad, who is coached by David Hussey and is aiming for the top this season.

Forbes ranks the newly established RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group-owned club fourth among the most valued IPL franchises. The RPSG Group, which previously owned the Rising Pune Supergiant, obtained the rights to run the Lucknow franchise in 2021 for INR 7,090 crores.

After finishing third in the previous season of the IPL, the KL Rahul-led squad vaulted into the top half of the valuation rankings within a year of its establishment, with players such as KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, and Manan Vohra. LSG is now second in the point table with four victories and two losses, led by Gautam Gambhir, former Zimbabwean cricketer Andy Flower as head coach, South African fast bowler Morne Morkel as bowling coach, and African icon Jonty Rhodes as fielding coach.

The Delhi Capitals have been among the most consistent teams in the IPL, with famous players such as Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, and Ravichandran Ashwin, but have only played the final match once in 2020.

The franchise, captained by David Warner, has yet to win the title.

DC is gearing up for some action this season, with former Australian captain Ricky Ponting as head coach, former Delhi Capitals captain James Hopes as fast bowling coach, and Biju George as fielding coach.
