On May 14, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 60th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. The contest was dominated by RCB, who won by 112 runs.
The RCB won the toss and chose to bat first. They got off to a terrific start, scoring 171/5 in the 20 overs allotted to them. Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell were the best players for the Bangalore-based club, scoring 55 and 54 runs, respectively. RR’s most successful bowlers were Adam Zampa and KM Asif, who each got two wickets.
RR’s reply was poor, and their batting was a disaster. They never recovered after losing their openers to ducks. Despite Shimron Hetmyer’s 35 runs off 19 balls, RR could only reach 59 runs before getting bowled out in 10.3 overs. With the ball, Wayne Parnell and Karn Sharma inflicted the majority of the damage for RCB. They each took three wickets.
One of the highlights of the game was Anuj Rawat’s run-out like MS Dhoni, which caught Ravichandran Ashwin off guard. Rawat intercepted Mohammed Siraj’s rapid toss and flipped it back between his knees into the stumps, trapping Ashwin before he reached the wicket. Because he hadn’t been hit by any balls, Ashwin was going for a duck. Many people compared Rawat’s run-out to Dhoni, who was famed for being able to execute stuff like this.
With this victory, RCB climbed to fifth spot in the IPL 2023 points standings, while RR dropped to sixth.
